Standard First Aid & CPR C – Blended Learning

Combining Online and Hands-On Learning

If you are unable to attend 2 days in a row, Blended learning could be an option for you. Complete the self study before coming in for 1 day of hands on practical skills and learning. 

  1.  Online Self Study – Participants must first complete the self-paced online component, which include the theory portion of the Standard First Aid Class with the written knowledge evaluations of each topic. (This portion must be completed before taking the 1-day course)
  2.  1-Day Course – Participants need to successfully complete an instructor-led classroom component with skills practice and evaluation session in order to achieve certification.

Participants should complete the classroom component within six weeks of completing the online component. If a participant fails attend a classroom component within the allotted six weeks, they will be required to re-take this course.

The Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid  is a comprehensive course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Exceeds competitors’ standards by including injury prevention content, CPR and AED.

(Once you sign up, we will send you an online login for the course and you can either choose one of our blended learning scheduled days or we will contact you to schedule you in for the practical session.)

Duration: 8 hours in person course + online self study
(Online sections must be completed prior to course date)

Completion: 100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 75% min. passing grade on written exam

Certification: 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level A, C, or HCP, and AED

  • Workplace documentation & how to complete a First aid Record
  • The Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) and Safety Data Sheets
  • Roles and responsibilities of a First Aid Attendant in the Workplace
  • Check, Call, Care
  • Airway & Breathing Emergencies (Choking, Asthma, Hyperventilation, Anaphylactic Shock)
  • Circulation emergencies (Life Threatening Bleeding, Heart Attack, Stroke & Shock)
  • Respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • CPR and automated external defibrillators (AED’s)
  • Wound care
  • Sudden Medical Emergencies
  • Environmental Emergencies – Cold/ heat related
  • Head & Spinal injuries
  • How to care fore bone muscle and joint injuries
  • Poisons

Take-Home Materials:

  • Online First Aid & CPR Manual
  • E-Certification card

This course is equivalent to OFA 1 and accepted by WorkSafe BC:  Here is a link to the certificates accepted in BC Workplaces as OFA Level 1 equivalent.
