Advanced First Aid (formerly OFA3) is an advanced First Aid course designed to cover medical techniques considered to be within the responsibility of the Occupational First Aid Attendant and needed to provide emergency care in industries (as specified in the WorkSafeBC first aid regulations). Students will learn how to provide emergency care in the industry.
This two week long WorkSafeBC course will provide participants with the training and certification necessary to become Advanced First Aid Attendants. This course is designed for remote worksites or employers with large workforces. Participants will learn the responsibilities of an Advanced First Aid attendant, preparing to respond, the Priority Action Approach, making transportation decisions, adult CPR & AED, how to recognize and treat shock, minor injuries, bleeding, fainting and seizures, sudden medical emergencies, stroke and environmental emergencies.
Students are required to attend all sessions and be prepared to do a minimum of 1-2 hours of home study per lesson. The course will take place over 10 days (see course dates for more details).
Participants, who successfully complete the course examination, and who have a valid CPR-C or Basic Life support (BLS) certificate, will receive an Advanced First Aid certificate card, which qualifies them to work as an Occupational First Aid Attendant in B.C.
There is very limited space in the Advanced First Aid course. Please register ASAP to secure your spot in the class.
